DIY Derby Timer Downloads
The Firmware
You can download the a zip file with the hex firmware image file, or
a zip file with the full JAL source code.
You can also download the uncompressed hex firmware file
by right-clicking and doing save target.
Some web browser security settings prevent downloading the uncompressed hex file.
If you have trouble, use the zipped version.
The firmware is "soft configurable" for several hardware options.
The Windows Configuration Program
I've written a MS Windows program to set up and configure the firmware.
You can download the excutable file or a zip
file containing it.
The settings are stored in the eeprom on the timer, so you should only have to
perform the setup once.
(Or at least until the next time you upgrade the firmware.
Unfortunately, most PIC programmers erase the eeprom when they program the chip.)
If you don't want to use the Windows Configuration Program
The Timer Setup Interface
Protocol for configuring the timer firmware is documented
here.
The Windows Sensor Analysis Program
I've written a MS Windows program to measure how effectively the sensors are working.
You can download the excutable file or a zip
file containing it.
The Simple Windows Timer Program
I've written a MS Windows program to talk to the timer and show race results.
This is by no means a complete race management program like Grand Prix Race
Manager, but will simply show which lane finishes first, second, third, etc.,
along with the race times. It is also very good for testing the timer and
track. (It is better than just using hyperterminal, I hope.)
This is the Full Install File (zipped)
which includes a setup program with all the objects and the required VB6 Runtime.
Or if you are only updating, you can download just the main program (again, zipped).
